Invoking the figure of the princess, Mélissa Guex subverts its prevailing dimension: transformed into malleable clay, the archetype appears before the public as a creature worn down by solitude and waiting. Neither a damsel in distress nor a delicate virgin, this Rapunzel delivers a trash-punk one-woman show, tackling the deeply rooted feminine clichés of our Western collective imagination. She separates the static fate of a woman from that of her adventurous and courageous prince: "no need to be saved!"
On June 8th at 22p.m there will be an artist talk with Mèlissa Guex in the Cinema.
